The Challenge
Embarking on a remarkable project for the startup PrairieFood, our mission was to capture the essence of farming communities across Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Nebraska that use PrairieFood’s products. This multimedia undertaking involved photography sessions with farmers using PrairieFood and gathering insightful video testimonials from both farmers and the company's executive staff. The challenge was immense: navigating remote locations, coordinating with farmers, and maintaining a tight budget as a solo multimedia producer.
PrairieFood gave us a unique opportunity to spotlight farmers eager to share their success stories. These stories unfolded in the heart of rural America, where GPS coordinates were often necessary to locate our subjects. Operating within a budget constraint, I designed an efficient schedule that had me living out of my trusty Airstream as I journeyed from one location to another with support from my remote producer and video editor. Adhering to strict deadlines, I allocated time to our video editing team for uploading digital files with high-speed internet, ensuring a seamless workflow.
What We Accomplished
The project's tightly packed schedule allowed us to maximize our time efficiently. In fact, I finished ahead of schedule with one farmer, affording me a precious half-day to visit PrairieFood's facility unexpectedly. Even the visit was a few hours away. This impromptu visit provided additional visuals, enhancing the depth of our storytelling.
I also managed to capture captivating drone footage of the farms, providing a visual contrast between the areas treated with PrairieFood and those left untouched, showcasing the noticeable impact of our efforts.
The Results
Our efforts culminated in a captivating series of heartfelt success story videos and striking photography that not only showcased remarkable farmers but also the picturesque landscapes they call home. These materials served as invaluable assets, finding their way into pitch decks, marketing collateral, the company website, and social media channels. More importantly, they empowered PrairieFood to share their authentic story and establish meaningful connections with farmers, bringing firsthand experiences to life and strengthening their brand's authenticity.
We celebrated the company's commitment to sustainability and the environment, showcasing their dedication to nurturing the land and supporting local communities. Our project allowed us to bridge the gap between the heartland of America and a global audience, illuminating the lives and stories of farmers who contribute to PrairieFood's mission profoundly and unforgettably.
